Biophilic Design

Biophilic Design

Biophilia is defined as ”the inherent human inclination to affiliate with nature. It is an innovative way of designing the places where we live, work and learn.”

Biophilic Design is not only about bringing the outside in, it is also about making a connection between nature and man made materials in homes and buildings such as natural light, views of nature (like ponds and lakes), waterfalls, plants, and any other natural material.

Bringing these elements to a building helps office workers to be more productive. It encourages children to learn more, and help hospital patients to get better. It can also reduce stress and blood pressure levels.

Besides natural elements inside of a space, we can also bring photos of water, flowers, plants, trees and natural colors. Having a view of nature from your home or exposure to nature, can bring positive emotional experiences and a sense of calm that can enhance your health and productivity.

It is very important to bring nature into our daily environments.
